The play M For sympathy is on the use of social media to garner sympathy . The backdrop of the play is the crisis in Syria. Two men are trapped in the crisis , and one of them is a teacher. Rasa Aur Drama spoke to the director of the play Harshwardhan Jadhav. He tells us," The story moves around in a flashback." " It was also exciting as the whole team was new. It was also after two years that they made it to the Purushottam Karandak round."

Twelve Kilometre: Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth

The piece "Twelve Kilometre" is based on a true incident . A man is denied access to an ambulance to take his wife to the cremation grounds. He walks it to the cremation grounds on foot. Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth had a stirring story to narrate in theatrical language. The scene of a compounder demanding more money to get the ambulance was like a stab to one's conscience. The narration then takes you to the early days of marriage of the husband and wife , fighting over a missing earring. The love, care and affection are bubbling with the gushing lights. Twelve Kilometre is a story of triumph over odds of every day life; the desire to live life on one's own terms. As poet Rabindranath Tagore puts it " If adversity is great, men and women are greater." The story revolves around the relationship between husband and wife, then the difference of treatment to the government and the public.

The argument scene between the husband and wife had deep emotional connect with the audience too. I felt the male protagonist could pitch his voice better.

The red light on the burning wood was simple and prosaic. The multiple scenes on stage were well spaced out; besides the little use of sets. The script was the strong point of the team!

Ten Thousand and Counting by Srimati Kashibai Navale Abhiyantriki Mahavidyalaya, Wadgao Buduk

Newspapers tell that Pune is one of the safest cities in the country. Yet, there are more than 10,000 kids on the streets. The play opens to a praying session at a child correction centre: Bal Sudhar Griha. The team had an elementary set, yet compact and neat.

Raja sells newspapers on the street. He comes upon a girl, equally bedraggled. She is hungry and hasn't eaten. he offers her a wadapav and they become friends.

The girl had an emphatic presence on stage. The director of the play Aditya Pawar told us that it took him quite a lot of work to get that look on the character. Not without sophistication, the play was a powerful script!
