NCPA announces the return of Nick Payne’s ‘Constellations’, starring Aahana Kumra and Kunal Roy Kapur for its third rendition!

January 2024: Following sold out runs in 2018 & 2019, the Tony & Olivier award-winning play Constellations by Nick Payne returns to the NCPA in February 2024. In an age of increasing cinematic multiverses in both Hollywood and Bollywood, Constellations is a rare theatrical presentation that explores the possibility of multiple realities through a heart-warming story between a beekeeper and theoretical physicist played by Kunal Roy Kapur and Aahana Kumra respectively. Nick Payne’s poignant & funny play, Constellations, explores how even the smallest change in our lives can dramatically alter the course we take. It is a spellbinding exploration of love, science, quantum theory, and infinite possibility for heartbreak or for hope. Directed by Bruce Guthrie, the play will be running from the 15th to the 18th of February at the Experimental Theatre, NCPA.

Bruce Guthrie, Director & Head of Theatre and Films, NCPA, expressed “ Constellations is a beautifully constructed play that delivers in so many ways. It has been globally recognized for its high-concept story that poses existential questions and levity. The play’s brilliance lies in how it tells a human story in an accessible way while making the audience feel smarter than when they came into the theatre. In its past runs, the audience’s responses have been encouraging and I could not be more delighted to be working with Kunal and Aahana on this version. They are great creative forces, and we are looking forward to sharing it with audiences in February.

Don’t miss a chance to watch a play that The New York Times reviewed as

"The most sophisticated date play Broadway has seen.”

You can now book your tickets at the Box Office or online on Book My Show.

About Nick Payne’s Constellations:

Marianne and Roland meet at a barbecue. They are single, or recently single or in a relationship or married? Perhaps they go on a date and fall in love, or perhaps it doesn’t go well? Maybe they get together and they break up? After a chance encounter at a dance lesson preparing for an upcoming wedding, they get back together, or maybe Marianne reveals that she’s now engaged to someone else. Or perhaps Roland is engaged. Or what if Roland and Marianne navigate all of this and get married? Or what if their time together is cut tragically short? Does free will exist? Or are we playing out one of a multitude of predetermined possibilities?

Nick Payne’s touching and funny multi award-winning play is about many things – String theory, the multiverse, free will, choice, honey – but it’s also about what it is to love someone so much that you will put their needs before your own, no matter the cost.
