Zee Theatre brings the live energy of musical blockbuster 'The Sound of Music’ to Indian television!
A star-studded live production of 'The Sound of Music’ will now be screened on Indian television for the very first time courtesy Zee Theatre. This true story based on Maria Von Trapp’s memoir, ‘The Story of the Trapp Family Singers' will bring back the much-loved cadences of hits like 'Edelweiss,' 'Do-Re-Mi,' 'Sixteen Going on Seventeen,' 'My Favorite Things' 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain, 'The Lonely Goatherd' and many more.
Watch multiple Grammy winning Carrie Underwood, as Maria along with a stellar cast in a musical that has been a resounding hit from the time its first Broadway production was unveiled in 1959. Its cinematic version was the highest-grossing film of 1965 and starred Oscar winner Christopher Plummer and Golden Globe Award-winning actorJulie Andrews.
This Beth McCarthy-Miller and Rob Ashford directorial also stars Stephen Moyer, Audra McDonald, Christian Borle, and Laura Benanti.
Synopsis:
The Sound of Music, which takes place during the late 1930s, opens on a sweeping view of the Austrian Alps and a young woman, Maria , singing. When she hears church bells, she hurries back to the abbey, where she is a postulant, but she arrives too late for the church service. She tries to explain herself to the Mother Abbess (Peggy Wood), who tells her that she is to take up a position as governess to the seven children of the widowed former naval officer Captain Georg von Trapp ). When she arrives to take up her post, she learns that the captain requires military discipline from his children (ranging in age from 5 to 16) and expects the same from Maria. After dinner the eldest, Liesl (Charmian Carr), sneaks out to meet with Rolfe , a telegraph messenger.
